Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families experiencing a range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. This role involves conducting assessments, diagnosing using DSM criteria, developing treatment plans, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. This position starts part-time and can transition to full-time as the caseload builds. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and committed to their professional development in a collaborative team environment.
Essential Job Functions
Client Care & Treatment
- Conduct initial client assessments, including mental health history, DSM-based diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation.
- Provide evidence-based individual, group, and family counseling to support client progress.
- Develop, implement, and adjust treatment plans based on clinical assessments and client needs.
- Ensure ethical and professional mental health treatment within the scope of practice and in alignment with regulatory state and industry standards.
- Deliver both in-person and telehealth counseling sessions based on client needs and agency policies.
Caseload & Compliance
- Manage and grow a caseload. Part-time goal of 10-20 active clients per week, working toward the FT goal of 20- 30+ active clients per week.
- Complete accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation compliant with agency policies, billing guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA and state licensing requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete training such as Mandatory Abuse Reporting, Suicide Risk Assessment & Treatment, Trauma Informed Care, Cultural Awareness, and Fraud, Waste & Abuse.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Participate in department meetings and quarterly clinical supervision for consultation, refining treatment approaches.
- Work collaboratively with a team of professionals to ensure client care.
- Engage in professional development activities to increase clinical skills.
- Uphold the mission and values of the company by fostering an inclusive, supportive, and ethical counseling environment.
- Adhere to agency policies, including nondiscrimination and workplace safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
- Active license with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- Free from any open investigations and/or disciplinary actions.
- Active (or in process) OHA Medicaid Provider Number (DMAP)
- Must be able to successfully pass the Oregon criminal background check, including clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
- Self-directed with the ability to manage caseload responsibilities independently.
- Strong rapport-building skills and motivation to develop a thriving caseload.
- Effective time management skills to meet clinical and administrative deadlines.
- Competency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, or willingness to learn.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mediation skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations professionally and respectfully.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office environment with extended periods of computer use, up to eight hours a day.
- Occasional travel for meetings, consultations, and training.
- Ability to reach, handle, and carry office supplies and materials as needed.
